Marilyn
Brocklehurst from the Norfolk Children's Book Centre - Presentation to
Parents "Creating Readers for Life"
We are very lucky
to have secured a presentation at Kents Hill by Marilyn Brocklehurst from
the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre. Marilyn is a nationally recognised
authority on children’s literature and the teaching, and more importantly
the enjoyment of reading. Her book centre is used by schools all over the
country as a source of books, and she is particularly skilled in helping
schools to select quality books when setting up new libraries. Marilyn
herself travels all over the UK talking to teachers, advisers about the joy
of reading, and how to pass it on to children. As a school we continue to be
committed to reading, as something to be enjoyed as well as something to be
learnt and developed.
The presentation
will start at 7pm and will last for about an hour. It will be followed by
wine and nibbles and an opportunity to browse and purchase from a selection
of high-quality books which are recommended to enjoy with your children. We
hope that you will come along and support us and join us for what promises
to be an enjoyable and thought provoking evening.
We will of course be sending full
details out in book bags to all parents in the Autumn term, and will
publicise the event in our forthcoming newsletters.
