Another year is ahead of us and it is set to be an exciting one for the student council.  In September all classes will been asked to elected two representatives to serve on the student council for the year,  it will then be down to business!

At the end of last year we completed our last payment to Cedrick - the child we have successfully sponsored for a year.  The student council would like to say a big thank you to all who donated money during our fund-raising activities.  The money raised meant we were able to regularly give £15 a month to feed and educate Cedrick who lives on the rubbish dumps in the Philippines.  It has been a tremendous success, we have learnt about how other childrens' lives are different to our own and how fortunate we are in this country.  We have been regularly updated on Cedrick's progress via school reports and letters.   The student council were very proud that when we had our OFSTED the inspector recognised the valuable work the student council does, in particular how we worked together to raise money for Cedrick.  It is sad that we will no longer be raising money for Cedrick- the student council thought it appropriate to focus on other things this year., but Mrs Walmsley and her family are continuing to sponsor Cedrick, so if any of you are interested in knowing how Cedrick is getting on she is the person to ask!

This year the council will be forging ahead with evaluating how environmentally friendly our school is, assessing what we do well and how we could further improve.  We will then apply to become an eco-school.  There are three levels of eco-schools; bronze, silver and gold.  We well on the way to gaining our bronze award which is fantastic news.

Remember the student council welcomes views from pupils, parents, staff and governors do not hesitate to put suggestions in the suggestion box which is located in the reception area next to the medical room.  All agendas and minutes from each meeting are available, they are displayed on the student council notice board.
